Robe, mayoral, of Stephen O'Mara, Mayor of Limerick 1885-86,also used by Alphonsus O'Mara, Mayor 1918-19. Red felted woollen cloth, with fur trim, no lining except across shoulders. Brown fur trim down both sides of front and down the arms. Seams under both arms, back panel gathered at shoulder. The sleeves are exceedingly long and unusable, so there is an opening at the top through which the arms go and the sleeves hang free, the opening is fur trimmed. Cream silk? lining across shoulder and continuing a short way down the front next to the opening. The lining appears to be a replacement of an earlier one, of which tattered remnants are present, it extended down the front to the hem on both sides ; in one area, largely masked by the later, is an illegible blue stamp on the cloth. White cotton tag at collar for hanging. Closed at front by two hooks in chest area on one side and two eyes on the opposite side
