Drawn by Henry McManus, A.R.H.A.; litho-mezzotinted by W.H. Holbrooke. Large coloured depiction of the battle, the Irish at left in a uniform of green and yellow hooped shirts and maroon and yellow vertically striped trews, the Vikings at right in chain mail; in the distance the Viking fleet lies at anchor within the bay. Title at centre bottom, below title a three column written description of the battle signed "John Cornelius O'Callaghan"; at bottom "Published by the Proprietors of "The Pictorial History of Ireland", by W.H. Holbrooke, 4 Cross Street, Dublin." Edges all round have short tears, except right edge.
