Illuminated address, framed. Ornate Celtic interlace rectangular border in red, yellow, blue and gold, incorporating at centre top a photo. of Wm. Humphries in a cut-out oval, head and shoulders of a bearded man looking left, at centre bottom in a rectangular cut-ut a colour drawing of the Main Post office. Text inside is heavily illuminated in red blue and gold at start but lower down the text is mostly in black with occasional red letters. Text "21st May 1904/ Address/ and/ Presentation/ To Wm. F. Humphries Esq./ Engineer, Postal Telegraphs Limerick/ On his retirement from the Engineering Department/ Of the General Post Office./ Dear Mr Humphries,/ On behalf of the Staff of the Southern District of Ireland/ and on behalf of some Official friends outside that district, we present you with/ this address, and, at the same time, we beg you to accept, as an additional mark/ of their, and our, appreciation of your many good qualities, a Clock and Purse of Sovereigns. Ornate plaster and gilt frame; inner edge plain, centre portion has repeating raise C-scroll motifs around, outer portion has open-work edge with C-scroll ornament around the openings. Sealed with brown paper on reverse. Some foxing of the card mount, some chipping of the plasterwork around the edges
