Wine bottle cork holder, Limerick silver, by John Purcell. Consists of a copper alloy rod, surmounted by a cylindrical cap ornamented on the top with 4 concentric circles towards the edge and on side with four encircling grooves; on the cap is a vertical ring holding a mother of pearl disc engraved on each side with the letter "P". The lower end of the rod is screw threaded and which fits into a bolt fastened to a silver end piece similar to but smaller than the end piece, except for ring. Marks on the ring below the mother of pearl; "I P" in a rectangle above "Sterling" in a rectangle.
