Postcard, b/w, matt; titled at bottom left "O'Connell Street Limerick." with "200.471 J.V.[in a circle]" at bottom right. View of O'Connell St. looking north taken from in the street, just south of the George Hotel; cars are parked along both pavements and one horse and cart is moving away from the camera and is more or less level with one moving towards camera, there is no other traffic on the street but several people on the steps of the hotel and two women on the opposite pavement. The front has a pen inscription above the title, "Stay here" with curved arrow to the front door of the hotel. At top of the front is the mirror image of a postmark from another piece of mail. Reverse printed in grey; at centre top "Valentine's/ Post Card", with vertical division line below; up left edge "Valentines "Sepiatype" series. Copyright picture". Left of centre "For Communication" to right "Address". Red one pingin, definitive issue, stamp Eire, showing the outline map of Ireland under an arch inscribed Eire and with Celtic interlace on the pillars and shamrocks in the spandrels. Two circular black cancellations neither of which are well struck but possible to piece together "????eac/ ?? PM/ 16 OC/ 30"; third cancellation to left of centre, "Buy/ Irish/ Goods" in a wavy lined rectangle. Addressed to Mrs Colebourne, 65 Pesham Rd., West Kensington, London W 14, England, from Bert; message of having a good time sort. Pencil inscription to right of centre top "[pound sign]5"
