Medal, gold; Limerick senior hurling awarded to P Scanlan 1940. Circular open-work form based on a penanular brooch, with projection at top for suspension, with one ring through hole. Obverse; at centre a shield, showing the three crowns of Munster on a green enamel background, supported by two hurleys and a shamrock either side of the base of the shield; triskele and triquetra and representation of football at bottom, rope decoration around part; legend at top "C.G. na G. C. L." and around bottom "Craobh na Mumhan". Reverse; at centre four rows of hallmarks, top "M.R"/ row of three Hibernia "Y" for 1940, and "9 .375"/ "Roche"/ and at bottom "Cork"; engraved below hallmarks, "Iomaint Sinnsearach/ 1940/ Luimneach/ a bhuaidh".
