View shows the control tower with single storey buildings around it and a car park with 11 cars in it. R/ printed brown, headed Valentine's over twin globes set on a large letter V, with "Famous/ throughout/ the World" on three separate banners across the globes; "Post" to left and "Card" to right of previous; vertical division line at centre; "For Correspondence" to left of centre; "For Address Only" to right of centre. Green 2 pingin, definitive issue stamp at top right; outline map of Ireland under an arch inscribed "Eire" with Celtic interlace on the pillars and shamrocks in the spandrels. Circular black cancellation; in outer ring "Inis Co. An Chlair" in centre "7.30 PM/ 14 III/ 49?". Addressed in blue to Mrs Joe C[?]oran, 2964 Tyburn St., Los Angeles 26, Calf, from May; message congratulation Aunt Sis on the birth of a baby girl. Dealers marks "Avi" at top left and "Top edge/ repaired &/ Strengthened/ WAF [pound sign]3" at bottom right of centre. Top edge reinforced by clear tape.
