Photograph, black and white, from glass negative. Squad of Free State Troops posed,with sloped rifles,outside the burnt out shell of a building in New (Sarsfield) Barracks. On the left a civilian stands looking at or addressing the troops, while an officer watches him from right of picture. Although the troops are in military dress, it cannot be said to be uniform; some wear flat caps while others have peaked military caps, some with and some without insignia.
