View of the castle and river taken from on the bridge, with three women in foreground, in 60's dress?, one of them sitting on the parapet taking a photo. Reverse printed in black and red; at bottom corner a red rectangle containing an outline map of Ireland with "Ireland" beneath and a black dot with arrow pointing to it on Adare; remainder in black; to right of rectangle, "Desmond Castle, Adare, Co. Limerick:/ The wooded banks of the river Maigue close to the/ village of Adare provide many pleasing sylvan vistas,/ good fishing and historic sites. The Desmond Castle/ which was erected in the 13th century saw many a/ struggle for possession. Cromwell ordered its dis-/ mantling in 1657, but the estates remained in the/ possession of the Fitzgerald family until 1721 when/ they were purchased by the Quinn family, ancestors of the present owner, the Earl of Dunraven."; across bottom left "Printed and Published by John Hinde Limited, Cabinteely, Co.
