Coin, cupro-nickel; proof one pound 1990, designed by Mr Thomas Ryan. In presentation box. O/ Harp and inscription "Eire, 1990"; reverse, a stag and inscription "Punt" and "£1". Frosted raised surfaces, milled and beaded edge. In a screw topped clear plastic case, with the actual coin set in a black plastic ring within the case. Presentation box, hinged at rear, has a green cloth cover, with cream satin lining on the inside of the lid printed in black with the Harp, and cream velvet covered tray in lower half with recess for the clear plastic case. A small printed, black on cream, descriptive leaflet accompanies the coin, and the presentation box slides into a white card box.
