Ceramic whiskey jar, stoneware. 1 gall. Stamped, above shoulder "David Kennedy, Wholesale Grocer, Newcastle W". Flat bottomed, with almost vertical sides, marked shoulder outlined with incised line above and below; short neck with wide rounded rim; strap handle does not rise above the rim. Clear glaze overall with some iron speckling above the shoulder. Crack on base during drying to leather hard stage, cracked in a diametrical line from shoulder to shoulder through the rim.
