Clock, carriage type, french movement. Copper alloy case, hinged handle at top, four rectangular glass faces with copper alloy frames, oval glass panel set in top between handle hinge mounts. All of the glass panels have bevelled edges. The back panel mount has a small stud fixed to the left edge, and is hinged at the right to allow access to the mechanism. There are three metal pins protruding from the back plate of the mechanism, one smaller in the centre, and two larger, left and right. The centre pin is marked, below, 'Hands', and above, a curved arrow pointing anticlockwise. At the top of the back place are inscribed, left, 'P'(?), and right, 'F'. Bottom left of back plate, stamped, '233'. The front face is white. The clock face, above centre, with roman numerals marked in black, outside them the individual minute marks, and outside that a series of numbers from 5 to 60, in increments of five. Below the clock face is marked in black, 'WALLACE. / LIMERICK.'. Late 19th C. Copper alloy key, consisting of a disc with large circular perforation in centre, and with two cylinders mounted opposite one another on the disc, one larger than the other. Each cylinder has a square sectioned void which is open at the end. The void in each of the cylinders is designed to engage the pins protruding from the mechanism back plate, for the purpose of winding and regulation of the clock. The larger cylinder is for the two larger pins, and the smaller for the smaller pin marked 'Hands'. The disc is stamped, left, '9', and right, 'MADE IN / (illegible word)', below what may be a Spade (card suit) motif.
