Whiskey Jar; ceramic stoneware. Transfer in black across shoulder reads "Thomas McCarthy/ Wine Merchant/ Limerick". Clear glaze on lower body brown glaze from shoulder up. Body widens from flat base to shoulder, then narrows to s collar around the base of a short stubby neck; rim flat. Impressed on shoulder below neck opposite handle "5"; oval stamp between last and handle reads "Price/ Bristol" around and "7" at centre. Broad strap handle attached at start of shoulder and just below neck; curves round to just below rim level; right side of handle, as held, badly chipped along its length; five thumb marks at base of handle where attached. One chip from neck replaced with glue.
