Axe, stone, shale. Natural flat faced stone sharpened at one end and rounded along one edge. The cutting edge is roughly straight, at an angle to the long axis of the axe, with a large chip off one face off centre, and a chip missing on the corner with the non rounded edge. The butt is flat, parallel to the cutting edge and with a large flake scar from one face towards the rounded edge. There is a slight bevel to the butt from one face. The rounded edge is convex. The other edge is natural, sloping from one face to the other. There are apparently artificial scratched grooves on both faces.
