Woodcarving. Rectangular oak board, with a poem carved in false relief within a rectangular outline on one face. Ornate script "The kiss of the sun for pardon/ The songs of the birds for mirth/ One is nearer to God in a garden/ Than anywhere else on Earth." Transversely cut board, slightly warped longitudinally. Reverse flat, with slight gouges across one end. Inscribed in ink on reverse "To Mrs Town(s)end/ Lissalan/ Clonakilty/ Co. Cork."
