Banknote, Provincial Bank of Ireland, Kilrush, Co Clare, branch, 1 pound, 1852. Border band infilled with geometric patterns, in each corner a square containing a circle with geometric motifs, leaf motifs outside. The band is inscribed Provincial Bank of Ireland on top, and Kilrish on the other three sides. In centre, above, a scene of Britannia and Hibernia seated, holding hands, to l. a bust of Victoria facing r., in garter, floral sprigs below; to r. an oval with geometric patterns inscribed One. Centre: No. 49104 Decr. 15 1852 No. 49104 / geometric band inscribed: Promise to pay the bearer / on demand one pound British at Kilrush / (on shorter band, below r.) For the Provincial Bank of Ireland / (on band l.) One Pound, (to r., signature) Geo. Hickson, Manager . (small, above bottom border) Perkins, Bacon & Pe(a)ch, London, Patent Hardened Steel Plate.
