Pattern makers tool of J Finnan. Iron. A larger version of 84.104. Consists of an L-shaped strip of metal, rectangular in cross section. The broad axis of the cross section on the base of the L-shape is horizontal when the tool is vertical. The stem above the base has a fiddle pattern shoulder at the change of axis, starting 1.2 cm above the base. The narrow section of the stem swells centrally, and there is a fiddle pattern shoulder at its junction with the flat two thirds of the stem. The faces of this section are slightly convex, and the edges sharply rounded. The tip has rounded corners, and is bevelled from the faces to a sharp edge. The base widens slightly from the stem. The swelling on the narrow part of the stem is stamped with the makers name, rubbed: T. Monks. The broad part of the stem is stamped with the owners name: J. Finnan, on one face, and with the initials J.F. on the other, the F doubled, overlapping.
