Address, illuminated, from the people of Limerick to Isaac Butt esquire QC, hoping that he will be able to address a mass meeting on behalf of political prisoners. Handwritten below text: The above address was adopted unanimously at a large and influential meeting held for that purpose at the rooms of the Working Mens Association, Brunswick Street, Limerick, July 23, 1869. Signed on behalf of the meeting, Johnston Russell, chairman, Henry O'Shea, vice chairman, Patrick J O'Kennedy, John Hickey, secs. Intertwined border with shamrocks, with inserts: centre top: Treaty Stone; centre l.: Arms of Limerick; centre r.: round tower and church ruin in coastal scene in shamrock outline; bottom l.: stringless harp at lakeside, mountains behind; bottom r.: high cross in lakeside scene, mountains behind.
