Clare./ One of Ireland's most iconic ancient monuments, poulnabrone dolmen has stood in the Burren for over/ 5,000 years. The irish name Poll na mbron means "hole of the sorrows". Excavations in the 1980s revealed/ burials of between 16 to 22 adults and 6 juveniles, including a new born baby dating from the Neolithic/ period. It was a place of ritual and symbolism for the anceint Irish and remains a place of pilgrimage for/ the thousands of people who visit it today to wonder at this amazing structure that has stood here since. the mists of time.
