Pocket watch by C. Cromer, 18 George St., Limerick; silver case hallmarked London 1888-89, maker RJP. Fusee movement. Dial, in black on white, has Roman numerals, inside a double circle marked with minutes.The 6 o'clock position is occuied by a seconds dial, showing every 10 seconds in Arabic numerals, inside a double ring marked with the seconds. Plain minute hand; hour has spear shaped pointer. Name and address on face above the centre. Brass movement, inscribed C Cromer, 18 George Street/ Limerick, 31930. Marks on inside of case below movement; lion passant/ leopard's head and letter N in a shield/ 31930/ RJP/ 10. Lid has similar marks but lion and N smaller, leopard absent. Cover at back carries similar set of marks to those under the movement; knop for suspension ring carries a lion and small n in a rectangle, with maker CH. Front decorated with a shield inside a garter, and a criss cross of curving lines; back has smilar lines around a central circle. A winder in copper alloy and steel is atached to the suspension ring.
The glass face cover is an ill-fitting replacement.
