Axehead, socketed bronze, patinated green. Bag-shaped. Oval socket mouth, bevelled externally unevenly, slightly flared where it meets the faces. Central raised rib on the internal faces, worn towards the socket mouth, more so on one face; on the more worn face there is a slight internal bevel from wear, and a raised lump on the rim. D-shaped loop on one side, splayed at each end, internally partially blocked by the line of the casting seam. The casting seam runs from the rim over the loop and fractionally below it; it is flattened between the loop and the socket, and removed entirely elsewhere. The cutting edge is widely splayed, almost semi-circular in outline, damaged at the extremity on the non-loop side, and dented and blunted on the cutting edge.
