View of the castle from across the Shannon, one and a half spans of Thomond Bridge at left; flag flying from gatehouse, burnt out shell of barracks inside castle. Reverse printed in brown, "Post Card" at top with T-shaped division below with "This is a real photograph" up centre; right of centre "The Address only to be/ written here". One penny red Eire definitive issue stamp, with outline map of Ireland under arch, at top right. Circular cancellation, "Luimneach/ 3 15 PM/ 6 Jul/ 1928" to left of stamp, wavy cancellation continuing off the card "Buy [Irish]/ Good[s]". Addressed to Mr. L. MacCanley, 12 Belmont park, Donnybrook, Dublin, from Kathie; message, having nice time here, hope you all well, Jim to join tomorrow. Pencil dealer's mark at top "£3".
