Aerial view of western three spans of the bridge from the south east, Treaty Stone at centre, High Road running to top left corner, St. Munchin's R.C. church cut at left edge, end of Brown's Quay at top right. Reverse printed in black; at centre top a trade mark of a strip of film wrapped around a single engine monoplane, with "Aero Views Ltd., Dublin" on film; up centre as division "A reproduction of a real colour photograph by Aero-Views Ltd., Dublin"; to left at top "AFter William of Orange failed to take Limerick City in 1690,/ his general Ginkel, laid siege the following year. On 3rd/ October 1691, after 1 month and the loss of Thomond bridge-/head, the garrison capitulated on terms permitting it to join/ French service and religious freedom for Catholics. Tradition is/ that the articles were signed on the irregular block of lime-stone. The Treaty Stone, now on a pedestal at the Clare side of/ Thomond Bridge. Repudiated by the English Parliament,/ Limerick became known as "City of Violated Treaty".
