Postcard, b/w, matt; broad white margin at bottom with title at left, "The Abbey, Kilmallock" and "Copyright. Gaffney, kilmallock" at right. View shows the Dominican Abbey from the south-east, with river at left curving away to left; the abbey is seen across the field it stands in and posed across the grass is a group of men and women, fourteen in number, while a lone man stands on the opposite river bank at left. Reverse printed in red; at centre top "Post Card" with partial double underlining and double division line below; to left of centre "This space as well as the back, may/ be used for inland communication, post/ card rate, and for foreign at letter/ rate; to right of centre "The address only to be/ written here". An Edwardian card used under George V? Green halfpenny postage revenue stamp of George V, definitive issue full profile type. Circular cancellation across stamp "Kilmallock/ 4 PM/ 2 JU/ 14". Addressed to Miss Robbins, Chester Rd, Lower Walton, Nr. Warrington, Cheshire, England, from S.W.; message thanks for letter, will write soon. Pencil dealer's marks "Lim" at centre top and "£2.50" at bottom right of centre.
