Print, hand coloured "The Fenian Insurrection : The Police Barrack at Kilmallock, County of Limerick". Front page of "The Illustrated London News" Saturday March 23rd, 1867, No 1418-Vol. 1., with mast-head of St. Paul's and the Thames and text above the print, and text on reverse; text on first side above print about Hungary, account of the rising on reverse; other articles on "The Chassepot Rifle" and "Foreign and Colonial Intelligence". Print shows the barrack with broken windows with two gentlemen talking to an armed policeman in the road outside, a man on a horsedrawn cart is passing them and two women are walking up the street in the background. Pencil inscription at top right of first page "£9". Framed April 1998; gold apinted wood. Chris Doswell framer's sticker on reverse.
