Postcard, b/w, glossy, with white border around; title at bottom left inside of the picture, "The Abbey, Kilmallock". View shows the Dominican Abbey from the south west, across the fields in which it stands. Reverse printed in purple brown; at top centre partially obscured by stamp "Post C[ard]/ British Mad[e]" with short T-shaped dividing line below; "MacCarthy, Newsagent, Kilmallock" up left edge; "Correspondence" to left of centre. Two stamps; red one pingin stamp, showing the outline map of Ireland under an arch bearing the word "Eire", with interlace on the pillars and shamrocks in the spandrels; green half-penny stamp, up side down, depicting a monk at a carrell sheltered by the large lower case first E of Eire; part of the margin of the block of stamps with it is printed with four green oblongs with vertical lines within each. Each stamp is cancelled separately; two circular black cancellations; "Cill Mocheallog" in outer ring; "6 PM/ 26 IX/ 46" in centre. Addressed to Mrs M. Nunan, 37 Upper Mountpleasant Av., Rathmines Dublin; message signed by Manus, reads "I am staying here tonight. Several army officers called on me. I will send a wire when I arrive."
