Collection object: Noggin

Noggin. Wooden vessel, stave built, with eight staves, one of which projects above the rim forming a broadly waisted handle. The vessel is near-cylindrical, slightly off-circular and slightly narrower at the base than at the rim, which lowers towards the handle. The base is a single disc of wood which fits into a slot above the bottom of the staves. The staves are held by a thin band of bark, slotted and interwoven at the ends, fitted towards the base and held by pressure of the staves.
